Early evening stroll around Kiribili and Milson's Point

The fantastic light festival is finally finished and the Opera House is back to normal. Pity, I was getting used to it all multi-coloured with patterns. Hopefully the festival will become an annual event. Its been such a success that I'm pretty sure it will.

Firewater at Vivid Sydney (2009)

The light festival culminated this weekend with a "play" featuring a boat emerging from the waters and catching on fire (symbolising one of the old convict ships that really did catch on fire and exploded in the harbour in the 1800's) and hundreds of lanterns in the water. The lanterns were beautiful and the moon rising over the Opera House made for some more good photos.

Bobbin Head

I went to Bobbin Head today while Ally went to her craft school. I decided my photographic theme for the day would be "up close" so spent most of the day with my macro lens and extension tube. In fact, the photo below was the only non close up photo I took.

I loved taking these bird portraits of the birds I came across. Such beautiful expressions. Wonderful and sacred beings.

Leaps at Vivid Sydney

The lighted walls at Vivid Sydney were good for leaps - we managed to get others to try to.

Light art

Inspired by the light show, we attempted some light art of our own at Macquarries chair using the light from a mobile phone and exposure at 30 seconds. Here are our first few humble attempts. Here is what you can do with a bit of practice! First of all you have to be able to draw which I find difficult even on paper...

Vivid Sydney from Lady Macquarries Chair

After camera club last night, Charles and I popped out to view the Opera House from the other side. The colour was not as vivid as on Circular Quay side and not as photogenic but here it is for a record. The city skyline always looks very impressive from this side.
