Dedicated photography site

I am very proud to announce that G-Trove (this blog) now has a sister. She is over at g-trovephotos.com . I have been taking photos now for over 4 years and my portfolio is growing. The new site provides a nice interactive way to view some of my better photos. I am hoping to get some photographic commissions for paid and charity work as time goes on and the site should help. Its been a lot of work but I think you'll agree its been worth it. Thanks to Charles for finding the template. Check it out and let me know what you think!

South African evening

We had Greg, Ellen, Charles, Pascal, Kerry and Cora over for dinner last night. Greg and Ellen are off to South Africa on honeymoon in a few months so that was the theme of the evening with boerwors, Babootie and peppermint crisp dessert on offer. Cora (below) is a new friend of Ally's from cooking class - she's lovely. As you can see from the bottom photo, everyone was totally stuffed by the end of the evening and the reclining position was the only comfortable position to be in.

Autumn Colours

Thanks to Charles for the idea. It's a cracker. We just happened to have a tree down the road shedding its leaves with all 3 colours. I pasted the leaves to the window with cellotape and that's how I shot them with the sun behind.

Leaps at Vivid Sydney

The lighted walls at Vivid Sydney were good for leaps - we managed to get others to try to.

Light art

Inspired by the light show, we attempted some light art of our own at Macquarries chair using the light from a mobile phone and exposure at 30 seconds. Here are our first few humble attempts. Here is what you can do with a bit of practice! First of all you have to be able to draw which I find difficult even on paper...

Vivid Sydney from Lady Macquarries Chair

After camera club last night, Charles and I popped out to view the Opera House from the other side. The colour was not as vivid as on Circular Quay side and not as photogenic but here it is for a record. The city skyline always looks very impressive from this side.

Balmoral Burn

I went to the "Balmoral Burn" today with Charles and the Mosman Camera Club to take some photos. Basically the Balmoral Burn is a 420 meter road race straight up a hill starting from Balmoral Beach. The races are split up into fun categories like kiddies and parents, dogs and their owners etc. - and some serious categories too. It was a lot of fun but there was quite a bit of pain etched onto faces too - it's a steep climb. I was happy to take some snaps from the sidelines and not compete on this occasion.
..

Dogs and Owners Race - Mack would have loved it!

Kids and Parents Race

This little guy wanted to make it all on his own!

This muscle bound chap opened up a huge lead at the start of the "professional" male race and pummelled himself up the hill only to collapse and end last.

Runners

The harley warriors helped keep spectators off the track

Paraplegics Race - amazing to watch these guys power up the hill with arm muscles thicker than my thigh

Skateboarding - down the hill this time, not up...

An assortment of cute pooches. Mack would have been in good company...

Early morning ramble around the city

A lovely early morning with Charles ambling about the city, taking photos of the morning sun reflecting off the buildings.
