Gavin (Mountain McCormack) becomes famous

One of my great hiking friends, Gavin, is getting lots of publicity for wonderful reasons.

Excerpt from article in Sydney Morning Herald.

Gavin McCormack sails over the finish line in The Sun-Herald City2Surf wearing a granny's dress. It isn't any granny's but his late grandmother's violet little number, all the way from England. Her name happened to be Violet.

"I always run in this dress," Mr McCormack confides.

What is striking is the time. He has finished in a creditable 63 minutes. These kinds of attention seekers – the fund-raising funsters in bunny suits and tutus – are usually another 20 to 30 minutes away from finishing the City2Surf, presented by Westpac, the world's most populated running event, for which almost 80,000 people registered this year.

But on Sunday, in the 45th running of the event, Mr McCormack takes the gong as the fastest among the truly absurd. Jono Woodhouse, from Balgowlah, is mildly silly in his Braveheart war paint when he finishes at 58 minutes and 22 seconds, but he doesn't risk the kind of wardrobe malfunction that might befall Mr McCormack, a teacher at the Montessori school in Balmain.

By running in Violet's violet frock, Mr McCormack is changing the world in his own small way. He has run several half-marathons in this dress to raise money for charity. And so work is about start on the rebuilding of 10 homes in earth-quake devastated Nepal, he said.
He and his friends unite as Grannies Run for Nepalese Orphans and raise funds on the Go Fund Me website.

Also, front page in The Herald - more important than the prime minister!

Synchronicity: "Experience field"

In 2015, I had a deep insight that life is a kind of "experience field" for God.  God is experiencing being each of us.  In other world, I am God within an "experience field" that filters out all knowing except the knowing relevant to being me. This explains why an omnipotent universal mind (God) can have the experience of being a "separate self."  I am not sure where this insight came from.  It was either a kind of cosmic download or inspired by reading "The Mystery Experience" by Tim Freke.  In any case, it felt like a very profound realisation when it arose.

A few days later, I listened to a random Youtube video about a wildlife park in South Africa. It was kind of an advertisement for the park.  The first thing the narrator said is "Come to our wonderful wildlife reserve. It is an extraordinary "field of experience."  I had never heard this expression said before and have not since.  It felt very significant as if Life was saying to me, "Take note. This insight that life is an experience field for God is highly relevant."

Insights (2015)

Spiritual

  • Reading the Mystery Experience.
  • Cast of characters in head & dialogues
  • Radical letting go and surrender.
  • Letting go of psychic tension (rushing, striving, physical tension).
  • Churning for order blocks creativity and inspiration.  I let my mind be alive, untamed, free.
  • Give it space to breathe. Not smother it.
  • A change will require a radical change (Radical Letting Go)
  • When present, it's Consciousness that experiences wonder. Sees out of eyes of this form.
  • Movie: Amy leading to universe as art.
  • Life is Consciousness’s epic masterpiece of art, each of us a brushstroke.
  • Slow and easy, my friend, All is Well.
  • Am I here now?
  • Test for truth: What expands the soul.
  • God is experiencing Life through each living form. A symphony.

Other

  • Stop avoiding and face it.  (leak)
  • Plan ahead to avoid last minute stress (balcony)
  • Power of a bit at a time (SA blog, Evernote migration)
  • Need to be more decisive (state preference)
  • Need to let go of need to impress (Chrisel)
  • Not rushing into floors solution - evolved
