Aquila

Jo and I enjoyed a wonderful overnight stay at Aquila Private Game Reserve, near Touws River, about two hours’ drive from Cape Town. The reserve offers game drives and overnight accommodation, making it an accessible place to experience African wildlife. The lions were the highlight.

Garden Route Game Lodge

We saw a sign advertising The Garden Route Game Lodge and spontaneously decided to go there.  It was obviously ordained as we literally arrived 5 minutes before the game drive started at 11 am.

Highlights

  • Having the vehicle to ourselves.
  • Robyn, the guide, who was very friendly and very knowledgeable.
  • 'Africa from behind."
  • The lions, especially when the female lifted her head and preened for photos.
  • The baby ostriches
