Ostriches, elephants and pygmy marmosets
Bronwyn is the new brand manager for the London Zoo and Whipsnade Animal Park. She's loving her new job. We visited it today and enjoyed it very much in the gorgeous sunshine. Lots of African animals including lions, rhinos and Springboks making us feel a little home sick. Also had a picnic as you can see.

Pimp Mobiles and Smart Cars
Daves new Alfo Romeo with it's red "love seats" Affectionately nicknamed by his sisters as the "The Pimp Mobile", it's a rather lovely specimen of a car and sports all kinds of high tech gadgets including a mobile GPS computer. Bronwyn and Mark have a new "Smart Car" that is very efficient on the gas and easy to park in those tight London steets.

London stop-by
We drove to London this afternoon to have dinner with David and Susan - a belated celebration of David's 30th birthday. He liked his present - a fondu set. We went to a nice Spanish Tapas restaurant in Putney. Quite weird being in London again, especially driving past our old place in Hammersmith on the way. The relative peace and quiet of Cambridge is definely more our style. We also got to see Colleen and Steve for a couple of hours and had a game of twilight tennis.

Nicola's 21st
Saturday, we drove out to Kenilworth to celebrate Nicolas's 21st.
We stayed in an interesting B&B - it was a wendy house down the end of ramshackled garden that you could only get to through a direlect and messy house. Our first impressions weren't to favourable but the actual wendy house turned out to be comfortable enough.
We went to a local restuarant for the party and had a lovely time. Nicola's hair is ultra short after an experiment gone wrong a few weeks ago - but actually really suits her so she was looking sexy.
Dave had to contend with his fiesty T-Shirt Asterix for his food (see above photo) but won in the end. We got to bed after 1 am. Drove home today for a two hour game of tennis with Martin (lots of fun.)
Tonight we've got Amanda and Johnathon coming over for dinner and then off to see Million Dollar Baby which we hear is very good. Clintwood is on top form as ever.

Gus's 50th
It was Gus's 50th birthday this weekend and we went to their party on Saturday night out in Kenilworth. Carol put on a fabulous party as always with lots and lots of delicious food. We had a really fun time and things got extremely festive as the wine flowed. We overnighted in Bubbenhall at a cosy B&B with Dave, Susan and Kerry. Great to get the all Hoar sibblings together again. The image of the balloon is my first attempt at artistically manipulating a photo in photoshop.
Pictures of Gus's pride and joy - his three daughters.
Yatchs featured prominently in Gus's party, not suprising as they are a major passion of his. Nicola did a beautiful painting of Gus's boat which was extremely impressive and caused lots of excitement all round. As you can see, five of Gus's birthday cards also followed the yachting theme. Incidently, Ally's homemade card is the blue one in the middle (in pride of place.)
Carol made a T Shirt for Gus called "This is Your Life" with photos of him from young boy till today. Photo themes included young Gus at school, sailing his first boat, parachuting, his wedding, arriving in UK with his family, making his boat, completing his ultra runs, programming on the computer and so on. Fantastic present and beautifully done. Gus is inspiring with the very full life he lives and the way he manages to integrate all his passions. If I have half his energy at 50, I'll be very happy!

London times (Ally)
Congrats Bronwyn!
After a hectic weekend I headed off to London much to my dismay. The last thing I wanted to do was be away from home. Bron had arranged a dinner with Sally and I on Tuesday evening which turned into a celebration as we heard that she has just been promoted and is now Assistant Marketing Brand Manager! It was a lovely dinner and I got to talk all about our holiday.
Dinner with Kerry
Last night we went to Ker's for dinner - delicious chicken and salad where I got the talk about our holiday again! There was much laughter about my photo where I am swimming - they all reckon I just need a set of whiskers and I would look like a cutie seal. Not sure if that was a compliment or not. It was great to see Puds again and now we are all looking forward to Ker's birthday celebrations in mid August.
