Hundreds of thousands of beautiful blue crabs descended on this small mud flat at Stockton mud flats while I was photographing birds there. Why, I'm not sure (maybe a mass breeding orgy?) but it was a truly amazing spectacle. I've never seen so many crabs in one place. It was awe inspiring.

Nobby Breakwater (Newcastle)
I went for a nice walk along the breakwater to stretch my body after crawling on my belly in the mud photographing birds.

Birding in Newcastle
I spent an idyllic day on my belly in the mud trying to get close enough to waders on the Newcastle mudflats. Needless to say, I got very dirty indeed but it was well worth it. Photographing birds requires so much patience, but it can feel so rewarding when you get the shot.
