Boulder hopping to Canyon X (Narrabeen)

I read that Canyon X is great place to do photography at dawn. The only problem is that to get there, you have to get down a steep cliff using ropes. See here for a video of this.  In the dark (to get there at dawn), it's something of a challenge!

The other option is to do some serious boulder hopping from North Narrabeen beach.  I decided to do the latter - and do it in the daylight.  Maybe in the future, I'll try a dawn shoot, but for now I was just happy to scout it out and explore a new place.  It's pretty cool  place with sheer cliffs and a blow hole that sucks water in and then spurts it out.  My photos are very average because the light wasn't right but I really enjoyed it.

Here is how Canyon X looks like at dawn, shot by a really good photographer (Brent, a hero and photographic role model of mine.)

On the way back, I got some snaps of surfers and some gulls.

And North Narrabeen beach...

Terrigal (NSW Central Coast)

Terrigal also has some nice rock formations.  It is more populated than Forresters Beach with lots of little shops and restaurants.  A great place for fresh fish and chips I discovered.

Royal National Park Coastal Hike

I just got back from a great two day hike with Bruce and Jimmy. The coastal scenery was great with lots of majestic cliffs and sandy beaches. The weather was overcast most of the time and a bit rainy, but that was perfect for walking. The hike was 25 km's in total and my legs are feeling very stiff tonight. I took my small Canon Camera (a lot lighter than the SLR) and the weather was not condusive for great photos, but I include the ones below as a good memory of the hike. We also saw some interesting wildlife like a snake, water lizard (beautiful) and a cute little echidna that was very shy. Not to mention the flies, oh my god there were so many (see below)...

Stopping off at Hawkesbury River

We stopped at the Hawkesbury River on the way to Muogamarra Nature Reserve. It is beautiful and we intend to visit again and stay longer soon. As you can see, there were some lovely rock formations.

I'm thinking of upgrading our post box...

...to something like the Pelican box below. Maybe an albatross. Or an owl. What do you think?
