On Sunday of our stay in Langebaan, it was raining, so went to the West Coast Fossil Park. West Coast Fossil Park preserves one of the richest late Miocene fossil sites in the world, where remarkably intact remains of ancient animals — including sabre-toothed cats, short-necked giraffes, and bear-like dogs — reveal what the west coast of South Africa looked like around five million years ago.
