A more challenging route up Table Mountain that was very rewarding with lots of beautiful forrest and stunning views from the top. The highlight of the day was video-calling Colleen and Steve on the way down. Wonderful to reconnect with them after so many years.

Tapi Tapi ice cream with Russell, Carmen, the Pater and Kobus
I haven't been in Observatory for so long. It certainly has lots of atmosphere. We all met up there to enjoy some lunch and try the very unusual Tapi Tapi ice cream that specialises in African flavours. I tried the Impepho Tea, Mhiripiri and Mystery Flavour. It was unusual but delicious.

St James with Russell, Carmen and Heather
A lovely lunch time swim with Carmen and Russell. Heather came along for the ride. We stopped off for ice cream on the way in Kalk Bay. The delicious flavours I had: Cinnamon, Ginger and Cherry.

Market with Russell, Rob & Dawn, Brandon and Warren
It was wonderful to meet Rob and Dawn (Glen's parents). I've heard lots of about them from Russell. What a super couple. The highlight of the evening, apart from the company, was the peanut butter smoothie.

Gramps: Actor extraordinaire
One of the greatest passions in Gramp's life was his acting. His one great regret in his life was that he was not able to take up acting professionally. He acted in a huge variety of roles in an amateur capacity and it gave him a great deal of joy. Unfortunately I never got to watch him act in a play but his acting ability often came to the fore in his telling of stories and jokes during which he always kept his audience spell bound.
Advertising campaign
Instead of acting professionally, Gramps worked as a bank manager. In 1967, he was featured in a national advertising campaign for National Provincial Bank in which they promoted the "human face" of their bank managers.
