Day 10 of Everest Hike: Pheriche (4371m) back to Namche Bazaar (3445m)

The hike from Periche to Namche Bazaar was a long and tough 25 km hike but the weather was clear and the extraordinary scenery more than made up for the pain. The scenery in the morning was some of the most spectacular on the whole hike and we also enjoyed sublime sunset views of Everest on the ascent to Namche Bazaar.

One of my favourite photos of the whole trip

Russell hitches a lift on a horse

Russell, due to his cough, was not feeling up for the brutal climb up to Namche Bazaar.  Thankfully, we found a horse to make his life easier.

Day 11 of Everest Hike: Namche Bazaar (3445m) to Lukla (2860m)

Another very long day of over 20 km as we retraced our steps from Namche Bazaar (3445m) to Phakding (2610m) to Lukla (2860m).  The last stretch was a much harder uphill slog than I was expecting so I was elated when we finally arrived in Lukla.  What an extraordinary adventure we all had. There was a wonderful sense of accomplishment.  All that remained was to overcome our fears and tackle the flight back to Kathamndu the next day!
