I visited the Nan Tien Temple in Wollongong with my Photography Meetup Group — a beautiful, spiritual, and deeply peaceful place. Known as the largest Buddhist temple in the Southern Hemisphere, Nan Tien (which means "Southern Paradise") was established in 1995 by the Fo Guang Shan Buddhist order, which originated in Taiwan. The temple blends traditional Chinese architecture with serene gardens, lotus ponds, and sweeping views of the Illawarra escarpment. It’s not just a place of worship, but also a centre for cultural exchange, mindfulness retreats, and spiritual learning.
