Mondulkiri

Mondulkiri, the original Wild East, and the most sparsely populated province in the country is a world apart from the lowlands with not a rice paddy or palm tree in sight.  I spent 3 nights here.  The highlight was visiting the local elephant sanctuary.

Bou Sraa Waterfall

Plunging into the jungle below, this is one of Cambodia's most impressive falls.

Coffee plantation

I had the strongest ice coffee of my life here.  It left me feeling wired for days !!

Local Village

These puppies were very cautious of us at first but soon became our best friends

Beautiful children in the village

The nature lodge where I slept

One of the best places I stayed on the trip.  My own bungalow for $5 and the most amazing food.

Garden Route Game Lodge

We saw a sign advertising The Garden Route Game Lodge and spontaneously decided to go there.  It was obviously ordained as we literally arrived 5 minutes before the game drive started at 11 am.

Highlights
  • Having the vehicle to ourselves.
  • Robyn, the guide, who was very friendly and very knowledgeable.
  • 'Africa from behind."
  • The lions, especially when the female lifted her head and preened for photos.
  • The baby ostriches
