Favourite photographers: Brad Wilson

Brad Wilson is one of my favourite photographers because of the extraordinary dignity he brings to his wildlife portraits. Against their simple, dark backgrounds, these beautiful creatures seem to meet us as equals, their eyes revealing an inner presence that is almost impossible to describe. Eyes truly are the doors to the soul, and when I look into the eyes of Wilson’s animals, I sometimes feel as though I can see God looking back at me. His photographs awaken a profound sense of connectedness—a recognition that we share this mysterious gift of consciousness and life with every living being. I discovered his work in 2015, when Sue gave me his book Wildlife. It remains one of the most cherished gifts I have ever received.
