While living in Cambridge in 2004 and 2005, I rented my movies through Love Film, allowing me to get hold of more obscure movies in my pursuit of The IMDB Top 250 list.
LoveFilm began in the early 2000s as a UK-based DVD-by-mail rental and online streaming service, formed through the merger of several European rental companies and quickly becoming one of the biggest film rental platforms in the UK and Europe. Amazon acquired LoveFilm outright in 2011, folded its streaming business into what became Amazon Prime Video, and eventually shut down the original DVD rental by-mail service in 2017 as customers shifted to digital streaming.
