4 nights in Simons Town with Mum & Mike

A wonderful four nights with mum & Mike in Simon Town. Jo joined us for two nights and Antony joined us for a meal at The Cattle Baron.  Very restful and some lovely swims in the ocean and fun movie nights.

Park run in the Greenbelt with Russell and Jason

Russell and I walked the local 5 km park run in the Greenbelt.  We did it in a leisurely 59 minutes.  It's a fun event and I can see why park running has become so popular.  Jason loved it though we had to keep him on a tight leash with all the people.

Watching Wonka at the cinema with Russell

A very enjoyable musical movie that was heart warming and also very funny at times.  Afterwards, I had a Goodie Burger and Pecan Nut Sunday at the Spur.

A walk in the Greenbelt with Russell and Jason

 A very hot day so we chose a shady walk. It was lovely to dunk our feet in the river.  Jason loved the walk as always.

A very hot day, perfect for a refreshing swim at Silvermine.  A great way to start the year.

New Year's eve with Brandon and family

A delicious braai and chocolate fondu at Lakeside and then a fun board game to absorb us until the strike of midnight.

 A lovely walk to build out appetite for the big New Year's eve braai to come.  Jason, of course, was in his element.

Alan Committie's "Fast and Reasonably Furious" at The Theatre on the Bay

 We went to this with Russell and Heather to celebrate Heather's birthday.  One of the very best comedy shows I have ever been to.  He had us rolling in the aisles.  So good.

My uber driver

I was on holiday in Cape Town. Life had sent me some financial curveballs and was I feeling a little distrustful about its benevolence. I got an Uber to Mum and Mike.  Without me mentioning my life or predicament at all, my Uber driver told me how a couple of years ago he was financially destitute.  Being God intoxicated, he prayed for help.  Then suddenly he was contacted by a Joburg company who offered him the chance to rent a car and end up owning it.  It just felt right so he spent his last remaining money to get there.  When he arrived at the dealership, he was gobsmacked to discover that his tshirt was exactly the same colour as the ribbon on his new car.  "It was a clear sign and it gave me the most extraordinary sense of trust and gratitude" he told me.  He drove the car home and used it to generate income as an Uber driver.  "It has brought me so much financial prosperity" he said.  "Life is good.  God is good."

The story brought tears to my eyes.  It reminded me of the exquisite benefits of trusting Life and surrendering to it.  There is an Infinite Intelligence running the show and I am loved and cared for.  Life is not meant to make us happy but to wake us up.  So not all will always go to plan.  But ultimately all is as it is meant to be and all is unfolding for the ultimate benefit of The All.  There is nothing but The All.  Life is inherently good.
